What does CleanSnap do?
CleanSnap helps you free up storage on your iPhone by finding and removing duplicate photos, similar photos, screenshots, blurry images, and other unwanted files. It also includes tools for video compression, contact cleanup, messaging attachment cleanup, format conversion, and a private Secret Vault.
What's the difference between Free and Premium?
Free: 10 scans/day, 5 deletions/day, 1 video compression/day, view-only contact and messaging cleanup, Secret Vault (3 items), basic storage insights.
Premium ($1.99/week, $4.99/month, $19.99/year, or $39.99 lifetime): Unlimited scans, deletions, and compressions. Full contact merging, messaging and email attachment deletion, unlimited Secret Vault, Smart Albums, Format Converter, and full storage insights.
Is my data safe? Does CleanSnap access my photos?
Yes, your data is completely safe. CleanSnap processes everything locally on your device. Your photos, contacts, and vault data are never uploaded to any server. We don't have analytics, tracking, or advertising SDKs. The app needs Photo Library access to scan and clean your photos — without it, the app can't function.
Will CleanSnap delete my photos without asking?
No. CleanSnap will never delete anything automatically. You always review and confirm before any deletion. Deleted photos go to your device's "Recently Deleted" album where they remain for 30 days before permanent removal.
How does duplicate detection work?
CleanSnap groups photos by matching file size and creation timestamp. Similar photos are detected by finding burst-like shots taken within 3 seconds of each other on the same day with the same resolution. The app selects the "best" photo in each group (highest resolution, most recent) and suggests keeping it.
What is the Secret Vault?
The Secret Vault is a PIN-protected private space for sensitive photos. Photos are encrypted and stored in the app's private directory, excluded from device backups. You can also set up a decoy PIN that opens a fake vault. Face ID/Touch ID unlock is supported.
Important: If you forget your PIN and cannot use biometric authentication, there is no way to recover vault contents. We do not have access to your PIN. Uninstalling the app permanently deletes vault contents.
How does Video Compression work?
CleanSnap compresses videos using three quality presets: Smart (automatic), HD 1080p, and HD 720p. The app estimates savings before compression so you can decide. The original video is preserved until you choose to replace it.
What is the Contact Cleaner?
The Contact Cleaner scans your address book for duplicate contacts (same name), contacts with no phone number, contacts with no email, and incomplete entries. Free users can view duplicates; Premium users can merge them automatically.
What messaging apps does CleanSnap clean?
CleanSnap can detect and help remove cached media/attachments from WhatsApp and Telegram. Free users can view the attachments; Premium users can delete them to free up space.
Does CleanSnap support multiple languages?
Yes! CleanSnap supports 10 languages: English, Arabic, French, Spanish, German, Turkish, Japanese, Korean, Chinese (Simplified), and Hindi. You can change the language in the app's Settings.
Subscription Management
How do I subscribe to Premium?
Open CleanSnap, go to Settings (or tap any Premium feature), and choose your plan. Payment is processed securely by Apple through the App Store.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Open Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions on your iPhone, find CleanSnap, and tap "Cancel Subscription." Your Premium access continues until the end of the current billing period.
I subscribed but Premium features aren't working
Try the "Restore Purchases" button in the app's Settings. Make sure you're using the same Apple ID you used to subscribe. If the issue persists, restart the app and try again, or contact us.
How do I request a refund?
Refunds are handled by Apple. Visit Apple's Request a Refund page or contact Apple Support.
Troubleshooting
The app won't scan my photos
Make sure you've granted CleanSnap full Photo Library access. Go to iPhone Settings > CleanSnap > Photos and select "Full Access." Limited access won't allow the app to scan properly.
The app is slow or freezing during scan
Large photo libraries (10,000+ photos) may take longer to scan. Keep the app open during scanning — it processes photos in batches. If the app crashes, try restarting your device and scanning again.
Contact Cleaner says "No Access"
Go to iPhone Settings > CleanSnap > Contacts and enable access. You can also re-trigger the permission from within the Contact Cleaner screen.
Face ID isn't working for the Vault
Make sure Face ID is enabled in iPhone Settings > Face ID & Passcode. Also check that CleanSnap has Face ID permission. You can always use your PIN as a fallback.
The app won't open
Try force-closing the app and reopening it. Make sure you have the latest version installed from the App Store. If the issue persists, try deleting and reinstalling the app (note: this will delete Secret Vault contents).
