How many grains can I write per day?
Free users can write up to 2 grains per day. Grain+ subscribers get unlimited daily grains, so you can capture as many moments as you want.
What happens if I miss a day?
Your streak will reset if you miss a day. However, Grain+ subscribers can use "streak banking" to protect their streak when life gets busy — you can bank up to 7 days of protection.
Where is my data stored?
All your journal entries, moods, and data are stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData. We don't have servers, accounts, or cloud storage. Your data never leaves your device unless you choose to export it.
Can I export my journal?
Yes! Grain+ subscribers can export their entire journal to CSV or JSON format. The export happens on your device, and you get a file that you own and control.
How do I delete my data?
Since all data is stored locally on your device, simply delete the app to permanently remove all your journal data. You can also delete individual entries within the app.
What are achievements?
Grain Journal has 18 achievements to unlock as you journal — from your first grain to reaching 100-day streaks. They're a fun way to celebrate your consistency.
Troubleshooting
The app won't open
Try force-closing the app and reopening it. Make sure you have the latest version installed from the App Store. If the issue persists, please email us.
My reminders aren't working
Make sure you've enabled notifications for Grain Journal in Settings → Notifications. Reminders are scheduled locally on your device and require notification permissions.
I can't see my mood mosaic
The mood mosaic appears after you've written at least a few grains. It shows your moods as a color grid for the current month. If you're still not seeing it, try closing and reopening the app.
